About Pattern That

Hi, I’m Alexander, a sewist based in Australia. I started sewing in 2023, and I’m still learning with every project.

I started Pattern That in 2026 because there were so many things I wish I’d known when I began sewing. I wanted a place to share the tips, techniques and honest lessons that can make starting out feel less intimidating.

Here you’ll find practical tutorials, approachable projects and sewing know-how explained in plain language. I want to help you understand not just what to do, but why it works, so you can feel more confident making things your own.

A little about Pattern That

  • Clear, beginner-friendly sewing guides
  • Patterns and projects you can make at your own pace
  • Helpful fixes for common sewing snags
  • Honest notes from a sewist who’s learning too

Some days sewing means a satisfying afternoon at the machine; other days it means unpicking a seam and trying again. Both are part of learning, and you don’t need to be an expert to make something you’re proud of.

Thanks for being here. I hope Pattern That helps you pick up a new skill, solve a small sewing mystery and enjoy the making along the way.

I hope you find something here that makes your next project easier. Happy sewing!
